“chronos” (2025)Sun Jan 26 2025
“The smell of something in the back of my head flashed up, reminiscent of warm summer days as a child. Time has passed, and yet the memory remains vivid, a testament to the power of our subjective experiences.”
At the heart of the installation lies the recognition that time is not a singular, uniform concept, but rather a multidimensional phenomenon that has been interpreted and understood in diverse ways throughout history. Acknowledging the changing political and geological timeframes (e.g. Anthropocene discussion), the work explores how these different temporal frameworks intersect and collide, shaping our individual and collective experiences of time and change.
Measuring the radiation and electromagnetic energy in the surrounding environment the installation channels these datapoints through the “reaktor” to generate live audio output that subtly shifts and transforms over time, creating a sense of flux and impermanence.
Just as the Earth's magnetic field and atmospheric conditions are in constant flux, the soundscape of the installation is ever-evolving, mirroring the dynamism and unpredictability of the natural world.
The incorporation of sensor technology and data-driven elements aims to underscore the idea that time is not simply a neutral, objective construct, but rather a dynamic, interactive process that is shaped by our physical and technological environments.
The "chronos" installation thus becomes a site of exploration, where visitors are invited to engage with the ephemeral, subjective, and often paradoxical nature of time itself.
